Technology transfer for productive innovation: Reunión Academia-Industria (RAI) 2025
The project aims to promote international technology partnerships in the biotech sector by organizing and taking part in a strategic meeting between Argentine and Italian stakeholders.
Summary
The Clúster de Biotecnología de Córdoba carried out this science-industry partnership project, centered on the Reunión Academia-Industria (RAI) 2025 (Academia-Industry Meeting), organized together with the Office of Innovation and Technology Transfer at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC). The 2025 edition focused specifically on biotechnology, with an emphasis on its applications in agrifood, health, sustainability and digital transformation.
The challenge is structural: the gap between universities' scientific capabilities and the productive sector's concrete technology needs. Companies, especially in biotech, struggle to identify and access the knowledge developed in academia, which limits innovation and technology transfer. UNC's RAI methodology is a structured response to this disconnect.
The project followed two sequential activities. Activity 1 — Preparation and delivery (Jul-Aug 2025): mapping technology challenges from companies and institutions (≥10 documented on the UNC platform), an open call for researchers (target: 5+ per challenge, from a range of academic units), agenda design, logistics, and holding the in-person RAI event, with matchmaking tables moderated by technology transfer officers. Activity 2 — Follow-up and monitoring (Sep-Dec 2025): post-event contact with participants, interim progress reports on the resulting partnerships, and a consolidated final report with impact indicators presented to cluster members.
Quantitative targets: ≥10 technology challenges documented, 50+ faculty researchers taking part, ≥5 working meetings (100% moderated), and ≥3 collaborative biotech projects emerging after the event, with ≥50% continuity. 200,000 (ARS 2.6M non-repayable grant + ARS 2M cash co-funding + ARS 600K in kind). Directly contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), target 9.5.
Main objective
Foster strategic collaboration between Córdoba's scientific and academic system and its business community through the Reunión Academia-Industria (RAI) 2025, focused on biotechnology: identifying concrete technology challenges in the productive sector, matching them with research capabilities at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, and supporting the co-creation of collaborative projects with viable biotech solutions to consolidate the biotech cluster as an open innovation ecosystem.
